POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Hybrid (in-office/telework) and alternate work schedules may be available

THE ROLE
The Facilities Design unit within the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Division of Facilities and Transit is currently comprised of approximately 40 internal staff members. This multidisciplinary design team provides in-house as well as consultant engineering design and technical support services in the areas of civil, architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering.
The Facilities Design Unit is responsible for oversight of the Department’s Capital Program related to the design, replacement, and modernization of highway maintenance, bus maintenance, highway illumination and other Department facilities. This role includes providing engineering and construction support to ensure the effective delivery of facility capital projects.
The Transportation Principal Engineer leads the program, ensuring strategic planning, staff and project oversight, and efficient delivery of projects. The Transportation Principal Engineer is essential for maintaining quality, compliance, and coordination across all consultant partners and CTDOT staff throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
Nine (9) years of experience in complex transportation engineering projects.
One (1) year of the general experience must have been in a supervisory capacity over transportation engineering design projects.
NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Transportation Supervising Engineer (Engineering).
