The Village of Arlington Heights, IL is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking professional to serve as its next Village Engineer. This essential leadership role oversees the Engineering Division within the Department of Public Works & Engineering, guiding major capital projects, ensuring sound engineering standards, and enhancing quality of life through safe, reliable, and sustainable infrastructure.
As Village Engineer, you will lead a team of 10 professionals, oversee multimillion-dollar capital projects, and play a key role in shaping infrastructure priorities for a community of more than 77,000 residents. This role requires a collaborative, strategic leader with strong technical expertise in municipal engineering, a passion for mentoring staff, and the ability to balance day-to-day operations with long-term planning.
Responsibilities include capital planning, roadway and utility improvements, private development review, traffic engineering, drainage analysis, construction oversight, and coordination with local, regional, state, and federal agencies.

- Provide strategic leadership for the Engineering Division, guiding infrastructure priorities and daily operations.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
- Oversee planning, design, and delivery of major infrastructure projects, including roadway, stormwater, and utility improvements.
- Manage the capital improvement program, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Illinois Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- 10+ years of experience, with 5+ years of supervisory experience
