Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition OverviewThe Vice President of Employee Health Services acts as the chief clinical executive for our organization's Employee Health & Wellness division, offering leadership across all clinical operations related to Corporate Care and Employee Health. This physician leader is tasked with developing, standardizing, and enhancing clinical protocols, quality systems, safety measures, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Additionally, the VP plays a crucial role in business development by serving as the clinical authority who engages with external clients and oversees all corporate care contracts.
This position encompasses a balance of 50% active clinical practice and 50% administrative and strategic leadership, ensuring both hands-on clinical excellence and comprehensive oversight of system-wide initiatives. The VP collaborates closely with the Senior Vice President of Corporate Care/Employee Health and supervises the clinicians within Employee Health Services. This role involves working alongside operational, HR, Legal, Risk, and executive stakeholders, acting as the primary clinical liaison both internally and externally.
Reporting StructureThe Vice President of Employee Health Services reports directly to the Executive Vice President of Physician Services.
MD or DO with an active or eligible medical license in New Jersey.
Board certification is required, with a strong preference for Occupational Medicine.
A minimum of 5 years in senior clinical leadership roles within Occupational Medicine or Employee Health.
At least 5 years of clinical practice in Occupational Medicine following residency.
Certification as a DOT Medical Examiner or the ability to obtain it within six months.
MRO certification or the ability to secure it within six months.
Preferred advanced administrative or executive training (MPH, MBA, MHA, MPA, or equivalent).
Proven success in leading multi-site teams, clinical operations, and regulatory programs.
Demonstrated history of quality improvement, standardization, and operational transformation.
Provides strategic clinical guidance and leadership for all Employee Health & Occupational Medicine services, ensuring alignment with our organization's mission, regulatory standards, and priorities.
Acts as the clinical executive liaison to senior leadership, regional leaders, Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, Infection Prevention, and external employer clients.
Leads the creation, approval, and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, practice standards, and workflows across the system.
Ensures the high-quality delivery of all occupational and employee health services, including but not limited to:
Pre-employment and post-offer medical evaluations.
Management and assessment of Workers' Compensation injuries.
Fit-for-duty evaluations.
Return-to-work assessments.
Evaluation and follow-up for bloodborne pathogen exposure.
Compliance with immunizations, infectious disease surveillance, respirator clearances, and drug and alcohol testing (this list is illustrative, not exhaustive).
Establishes clinical quality dashboards, KPIs, and performance improvement initiatives to promote safety, standardization, reliability, and regulatory readiness.
Ensures adherence to OSHA, CDC, NJDOH, ADA, DOT, Joint Commission, and all relevant state and federal regulations.
Directly oversees physicians and the Director of Clinical Services, with Advanced Practice Providers reporting through the Director across regional hubs.
Responsible for recruiting and retaining top talent to maintain clinical excellence across all locations.
Manages credentialing, privileging, competency assessments, and compliance with scope of practice.
Encourages a culture of accountability, professional growth, high performance, and excellence.
Maintains an active clinical practice, conducting various occupational and employee health evaluations and serving as the clinical escalation point for complex, high-risk, or sensitive cases.
Models evidence-based, efficient, and service-oriented clinical care.
Stays informed about and integrates emerging trends in Occupational Medicine, Employee Health, population health, regulatory policies, and healthcare delivery.
Identifies and advocates for innovative models, technologies, and process enhancements to improve service quality, automation, efficiency, and the client/employee experience.
Represents the service line in national forums, professional associations, and system committees.
