Description

Water/sewer district in east Bakersfield is accepting applications for a full-time Water System/Treatment Operator working under the direction of the District’s Senior Water Operator. The position requires knowledge of water distribution facilities such as wells, pumps, storage tanks, and SCADA.  Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and possess a valid California driver’s license (minimum Class C).  A California State Water Resources Control Board Grade 2 Water Distribution Certificate is required, and a Grade 2 Water Treatment Certificate is to be obtained within 18 months after hiring.   Also knowledgeable in working with MS Excel & MS Word.  Duties include maintaining the District’s water distribution and treatment facilities, maintaining chlorine residuals, responding to and investigating customer complaints regarding water quality and pressure, and other tasks as specified by a District supervisor.  Must be able to successfully complete a physical exam, drug test, and DMV background check.  Monthly salary $5,393 - $6556 with medical, dental, and vision benefits offered.  Email application, with applicant’s name in the filename, and resume to truiz@eastnilescsd.org.  Application deadline is 4:00 p.m., May 15, 2026.  Application and job description may be downloaded from the District website at www.eastnilescsd.org.
